The History of A Touch of Hope
In 2012, New Bridge Baptist Church started A Touch of Hope, an outreach ministry designed to provide a touch of hope to people in our community, through the provision of needed goods and resources, such as school supplies and backpacks and food boxes and winter coats.
Since our first Touch of Hope event, we have been able to give away over 1000 coats, close to 1000 food boxes, over 650 games and toys, and over 400 backpacks filled with school supplies. In addition, our student ministry led a mission week in a local neighborhood one summer, painting homes for the residents there.
New Bridge members donate needed goods and make donations towards the purchase of additional materials. Local businesses also partner with us to provide goods and donations to reach the people in our community with A Touch of Hope.
Completed Touch of Hope projects: Operation Backpack 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
We provided school supplies to children at Elko Middle School and FISH. We were able to deliver 250 backpacks each year to Elko on their Eagle Camp Day as well as leave some packs for students in need with the guidance counselors. Best of all, some personal contacts were made with families. Thank you for your help and support.
A Touch of Hope Update for 2017:
This year, we reached out to provide a touch of hope to the seniors and home bound in our community. We visited three facilities and spent time visiting with residents and playing games.
In October 2017, we partnered with Rise Against Hunger to pack 43,500 meals for hunger relief around the world.
